Our aim is to move towards self sufficiency. Iif you are interested in helping us please do respond. We can offer credits for people volunteering regularly! We are also pledging to run events on around a three monthly basis to facilitate earning and spending GEBOs. GEBO is a rune meaning 'I give' and has been chosen as the name for L.E.T.S. credits by a significant number of local L.E.T.S. groups.

We are working towards offering NVQs and things like basic first aid training, have regular events, exclusive offers / discounts to members only – watch this space for this and other exciting announcements.

Advantages of LETS

LETS, or Local Exchange Trading Systems, are local community trading groups where members exchange their goods and services with each other in a spirit of harmony and a genuine desire to help each other. A record is kept of the GEBO exchanges and the members' accounts are debited or credited accordingly. An account which is in credit identifies a member who has given more favours than he/she's received. An account which is in debit identifies a member who has received more favours than he/she's given. As there is no interest paid to accounts in credit, and no interest charged to accounts in debit, neither situation is a problem, and both are necessary in order to make transactions happen.

If you need things or goods then the LETS system scores again. We have seen cars being bought and sold on LETS, furniture, white and brown goods, craft items, toys and all sorts of ‘things’. When it comes to food and drink, restaurants and cafes etc then again LETS have the capability of providing that as part of the system.
